JTTBILEE CELEBRATIONS. A NEW NAME* WANTED. (Received 11.50 a.m.) LONDON. May 24—Delayed. Four hundred wore present at the jubilee dinner of the Royal Colonial Institute in the Connaught rooms, the gathering being fully representative of the Empire. The Duke of Connaught, who presided, announced that a fund had been opened to erect a new Institute building, with a large hall, towards which £II,ODo had already been subscribed. When the Institute was founded in ISOS it had 174 members. Now it had 14.000. but it was essential to extend the work in order to include democracy. The Institute had also outgrown its name, and they would have to find a name more fully expressing the new aims and ideals of the Institute. Mr. W. F. Massey, proposing the toast of the Royal Family, paid a tribute to of the system was proved by the war, and welcomed the coming visit of the Prince of Wales to the Dominions, when he would meet a welcome as cordial as that extended to his father. Viscount Bryce. proposing the toast of the United Empire, said the Empire was strong because it was elastic. The value of the system was proved by the wra, when all parts were so valiant that none surpassed others, because all surpassed themselves. Even New Guinea officials, missionaries, and others who could not serve in the army in Europe, sent a quarter of their year's salaries to assist the Imperial cause. The Maharajah of Bikanir said that India put 1,500,000 men into the field — (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
