HOCKEY TOURNAMENT.

SEVEN-A-SIDE GAMES. GATHERING AT REMUERA. j The Auckland Hockey Association held its usual King's Birthday seven-a-side ! tournament and sports gathering to-day !at Remuera under ideal weather conditions. There was a good attendance of ! players and spectators this morning, j when a start was made with the primary i school athletic events, and the schools, I third, fourth, and fifth grade, and ladies' seven-a-side games. The senior and sec- ' ond grade contests are being played this afternoon. Fifty-four adult and 20 schoolboys' teams entered for the seven-a-side tournaments, making a total of over 500 players. The management of such a large tournament entailed a great deal of work, but was ably carried out by Mr. L. H. Norton and an energetic committee. The system of scoring by points when there were no goals or goals were even, was adopted, as in former years. The figures given in the results appended represent goals except when otherwise indicated. RUNNING "EVENTS. 100 Yards Primary Schools Championship (under 1-).—First beat: 11. Hales 1, IP. Skelton 2.
