VETOED RAILWAY APPEAL.
A special meeting of the South Auckland branch of the Xew Zealand Railway Officers' Institute was held at Frank ton Junction to consider the Minister's veto in the recent successful appeal of Mr Longton. It was unanimously resolved: "That a vigorous pro-j test be entered against the Minister's veto, as being opposed to all sense of J fairness or justice; and to earnestly urge on the Executive Committee to enter into communication with the other raihvav societies with a view to arriving at a suitable line of action to combat the present unjust veto." | Strong criticism denounced the atti- , tude of the management ,n ■ overriding! . the unanimous verdict of the court and it was pointed out that this action , would ha P ve t,,e SV f stir up"." old feeling of V roteat .wMch former]* esistecL J
