I Mr. William Duff created a sensation in the Canadian House of Commons by attacking the Canadian naval administration at Halifax during the war. He asserted that the captain of the auxiliary vessel Hoehelaga (4.GSI tons) turned tail when he saw a submarine, J and ran for port and that while a United I States tanker was being sunk by a sub- ; marine Canadian officers were drinking tea and playing bridge at Halifax. Mr. DuiT asked for Parliamentary investigation into these charges, and argued that Canada should either spend ' £20.000.000 on an efficient navj- or abanj don the whole idea.
