CLEARING THE MINEFIELDS.
PLUCKY VOLUNTEERS' TASK. (Received 5.25 a.m.) LONDON, May 27. The Australian Press learns that 14,1100 volunteers aboard 430 British minesweepers are now working clearing up a hundred thousand British mines laid during the war. It is hoped this will be completed by the end of November. Drifting mines are prevalent, but less dangerous than was expected, as the bow waves of the boats turn the mines from impact.— (A. and N.Z.
