THREAT TO STRIKE. (By Telezrnpl).— Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The chairman of the Wellington branch <>f the Locomotive Engineers. Firemen, and Cleaners' Association, Mr. J. Meachen. replying to inquiries, said the Wellington men had their minds quite made up that they would strike if the Mini-ter refused to grant what they were asking for. "'The Wellington men are rPHdv to go out at a moment's notice" lie said. "In order, however, to minimise the inconvenience to the gencm! public, they will, before they go out. give some notice of their intention. T believe (here is a rumour current that the Wellington men have already made up their minds to cease work cm Thursday, but that rumour is not correct."
