BATTLEFIELD MEMORIALS.
SOLDIERS' GREAT EXPLOITS. LONDON, March 18. - The Battle Exploit Memorials Committee, consisting of senior officers representing the whole empire, has been formed by the War Office to consider the erection of permanent memorials on the battlefield, preferably to divisions or higher formations. It is pointed out that the exploits of smaller units may be recorded in the large memorial columns. The claims of Australia, New Zealand, and India must reach Whitehall before September I.— (A. and N.Z. and Router.) Major-General Brudenell White will represent Australia and Major H. H. S. Westmacott, New Zealand, on the Imperial Committee considering the claims by units to erect permanent memorials on the battlefield to commemorate exploits.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
