BOLSHEVIK MUTINY.
QUELLED BY CHINESE. ATTEMPT TO KILL TROTSKY. . _ELS-NGFOR. , March 16. A "Bolshevik artillery division Jnutinied in«Petrograd, refusing to go to the Baltic front. A regiment of the old Imperial Guard was ordered to suppress the mutiny, but joined the mutineers, killing several Bolshevik officials. Trotsky then rushed the notorious Chinese division from Moscow, and Duelled the mutineers with unbridled slaughter. The remainder were imprisoned.— (Reuter.) Members of the Red Guard attempted to assassinate Trotsky in a railway carriage on the Vitebsk Petrograd railway. A bullet pierced Trotsky's hat, but he was not injured. Two "members of his ptaff were hit. The streets of Petrograd are deserted except for soldiers and civilians begging bread. The deaths from typhoid" and smallpox in the city arc estimated at _000 a day.
Dispatches from Archangel say I hat Bolshevik forces fiercely attacked the village Vistav ka, on the" Vaga front. Although the Allies were greatly outnumbered the Red Guards were repulsed with %eayy losses.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
