NEW POLITICAL PARTY.
N.Z. WELFARE LEAGUE, FOR STABLE GOVERNMENT. TO COMBAT BOLSHEVISM. (By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. At :i well-attended meeting of delegates from all parts of the Dominion, hold in Wellington on the 12th inst, it was unanimously resolved to constitute a league called the New Zealand Welfare League. The following is the official report" supplied:—What actuated the formation of the league was a feeling that the problems awaiting solution alter th,. war required ability, sincerity and responsibility in the elected representatives of the'people for their settlement, iind the necessity to oppose the propaganda and the activities of those sections of the community which openly p-pouse Hol'hevtk or revolutionary principles. The leajnie's chief undertaking will ho to organise all men who support a -table Government and a policy of sane progress, favouring no one class of the country, and to get them to the poll. It will also influence the -selection of suitable and responsible candidates for Parliament, and endeavour to faise the personal standard of the people's representatives in Parliament. The principal objects of the league are thus stated: —To organise all who support a stable Government and policy of sane progress, favouring no one class of the community: to oppose revolutionary political propaganda, while giving support to the legitimate rights of labour; I a educate public opinion with respect io the political problems of the day, such as the health and well being of children, better understanding between employer and employee, the fallacy of restricted output, the necessity of increased production to meet the interest on war loans, and pensions, and permit of increased wages and the reduction of the cost of living. The league aims to generally promote aood government, to ensure the general -.velfare of all classes, to assist in the repatriation of soldiers and their into civil life, to select suitable and responsible men for Parliament and other public bodies. The leagiip is independent of. and unpledged to. any of the existing parties, ami aims at securing due influence at the polls for a large body of sane men of moderate opinion and constructive ability. Mr. C. V. Skerrett. X.C.. Wellington, was unanimously elected president of the Vague and the constitution was adopted. Promnt steps will be taken to form branches of the league throughout New Zealand.
