RATEPAYERS MEET.
CITY ASSOCIATION WANTED. A meeting of ratepayers was held at the Leys Institute last night for the purpose of forming an Auckland Ratepayers' Association. Mr. VV". A. Thompson was chairman. The meeting was poorly attended, and iii consequence the consideration of the proposed increase in tram fares and other important matters were deferred. It was stated by those present that feeling was very strong in the direction of the need for a ratepayers* association. The next meeting was fixed for S p.m. on March 27. The following were appointed a committee to prepare rules and advance the formation of the association:—Messrs. VV. A. Thompson. W. J. Wood, J. Edgar, B. L. Bagnall, W. Parkinson. A. A. Troop, E. Toohey. F. IT. Lees. L. Marks, Maxwell, sen., Rainey, and F. W. Chalmers, secretary.
