PRINTING TRADE.
OBJECTION TO AN AWARD. LOCAL MACHIX..ST-' VIEWS. The Auckland Printers Machinists and Bookbinder.' Union last evening discussed recent Arbitration Court awards in the printing trade. It was ntated that an agreement win made at a conference at Wellington in November, between the Machinists' Federation anil Typographical Federation, to take _nite<l action. Tlie Court confirmed tlie terms arranged between the T.vpo«r»pliii*al Federation and the master printers, and the machinists declined acceptance. The latter approached the Court, which insisted upon the terms made with the Typographical Federation, which provide. for an additional war bonus of 7/(5 per week, and a 4"> hours' week, operative from January 1 next year. The meeting passed a resolution expressing much dissatisfaction with the -attitude of the Typographical Federation in not allowing tlie Machinists' Federation representatives to take part at the conference with the employers. It was considered the outcome was that the conference did influence the Court in giving a most unsatisfactory award.
