REPATRIATION.
A CANTERBURY APPOINTMKNT DISPUTE WITH THE DEPARTMENT. (By Telegraph.— rress Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. | There was talk of resignation from office by members o f the Canterbury dis-! trict Repatriation Board to-night owing to the attitude of the Director of Repatriation in questioning a proposed appointment by the Board. Eventually the Board decided to take matters into! its own hands, and to make the appoint- j ment. It was stated that the Canter-; bury Board could not effectively deaJ : with the large number of applicants for work and other assistance unless a raven larger staff was employed. The following resolution was carVied:—"That the Employment Committee be empowered toconsult with the district repatriation officer and employ a staff and then notify the head "office in Wellington ol the same and ask it to confirm the, appointment*."
