LIVELY OBJECTIONS. TO A SPEAKER'S CRITICISM. ffir Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At the Methodist Conference the president announced that the Rev. Mr_Ashcroft, of Palmerston North, had been appointed secretary elect for 1920. Mr. Bayly, a prohibition speaker, addressed the conference on the efficiency campaign and the relations of capital and labour. He criticised the president's opening reference to Bolshevism, and lively objections were made to his proceeding, some delegates contending that the subject was outside the scope of Mr. Ba3-ly's invitation to address the conference.
