Instead of 200, there are only 36, and the disease is not in an aggravated form, v alleged. The Minister says none of the worst forms are encountered, and the disease is easily cured .when taken carry. Modern methods have improved the treatment, so that aggravated cases are seldom seen. No patient rs discharged from the New Zealand hospitals tiH cured. Of the .16 cases 25 had recovered and 11 we.ro convalescent. Five others' who had infliienwi were left behind in Otago. The Minister scouts the idea, that some of the men were believed to have been killed or missing because the parents were not informed of the f*et«.
