The annual pay-up social of the Auckland District Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the Central Mission Hall on Wcdtvsday afternoon. Mrs <>x>k presided over a largo gathering of members and friends. Rongs were rendered by Mrs. and Miss Gebbie. Mrs Burnett and Misf H. riuphes contributed recitations. Owing to the late arrival of the Niagara. Mrs Helen Barton was unable to give her address. Mrs Fortune, of Canada, gave some ru«=t interesting remarks on the suece«s of the "real Prohibition campaign in that Dominion Mrs Moody, late of Bluff, gave some further interesting details of her work among the soldiers in England.
