PAYMENTS FOR MEAT.
(Dy Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The following cablegram from Sir Joseph Ward lias been received by tne Acting-.Minister for Finance:—Tne Treasury litis agreed to pay 75 per cent, of the value of all meat after three months in store, and to remove the restriction on _0,000 tons measurement, or any other quantity."' The above information will be received with much, satisfaction, not only by the owners of meat in store, but by the community generally, as if will considerably relieve the financial position, owing to the large quantity of meat which ha? accumulated as the result of the short-, age of shipping.
