That returned soldiers are turning their attention to settling on the land is manifest by the applications that came before the Auckland Land Hoard to-day. Many were for assistance towards cost of purchasing sections upon which to settle. In all there were 57 applicants, and the values set. against the respective areas applied for totalled £109,78!). Advances were also asked by 12 discharged soldiers for sums aggregating £2,785.
