POSSIBLE STARTING POINT OF NEW OFFENSIVE. (Received 10.10 a.m.) NEW YORK, August IS. The United Press Association's Washington correspondent states tbat dispatches from Italian general headquarters to the military attache of the Italian Embassy, say that the Italians opened an intense artillery attack on a 25-mile front in the mountain zone near the Swiss border, where there has been practically no fighting since the beginning of the wa_. Military circles express the opinion that this is the starting of an Italian offensive. An Italian official report states: —In the Tonale region, south of the Swiss border, we carried out thrusts and occupied Mount Monticcllo, Tunta di San Matteo, seven miles north of Tonale Pass, and a spur south-east of Cima Zigolon.
