FOLLOWING UP ENEMY IN HEBUTERNE SECTOR.

LONDON, August 15. Sir Douglas Haig reports:—There has been local lighting in the neighbourhood of Parvillers. We made progress following the enemy's recent withdrawals in the Hebuterne sector, north of Albert. The enemy evacuated forward positions at Beaumont-Hamel, five miles north of Albert, Serre, two miles further north, Puisieux-au-Mont, '__ miles east of Hebuterne, and Bucquoy, two miles further north. Our patrols, advancing, gained ground •round the villages.—(A. and N.Z. and Reuter.) The further retirement north of the Somme takes tbe German line behind the _om_. battle line of 1916.—("Times.")
