ONEHUNGA COUNCIL
The Onehunga Borough Council met last night, Mr J. Stoupe, l>epnty Mayor, prfc siding. Waterworks Loan.—The State Advances Board intimated that it was willing to lend the Council £3500 for waterworks extension. The currency of the loan is to be 30J years, at 41 per cent interest per anuum. * The Town Clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps for a poll of ratepayers to sanction the loan. Dangerous Goods. —It was agreed that Councillor W. J. Brewln and the Town Clerb should draw up a by-law for regulating the storage of dangerous goods in the borough. Mt. Smart Pit. —It was decided that the Boroußli Eugineer take over the sole control of the Mt. Smart scoria pit to carry out the reforms suggested by him in a report to the Council. Also that the charges for scoria be increased as advised by the Engineer. Red Jersey Fund. —Mr Brewin moved, and it was decided to donate £25 from the borough funds to the R6d Jersey Fund. By-laws.—Mr Dillicar moved "That the amended Zoo by-law and the stables by-law be rescinded owing to their nou-enforce-ment." 'J'ljg motion re the Zoo by-law was lost by 5 tt>M, and the second proposal was also rejected.
