FIRES.
J (By Telegraph—Press Association.) MARTON, this day. A fine two-storey residence, occupied by Mr. J. G. Hewitts, S.M., lately owned by Dr. Skerman, was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday evening, including his art collection and law library. There is an insurance of £1250 on the build- ] ing in the South British, and £600 on ] the furniture' in the Norwich Union. ; (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) I 1 TE ABOHA, this day. h At 5 o'clock last evening fire broke out' in a dwelling occupied by Mr. M. Love- j ridge, bootmaker, and owned by Mrs. j McKee, of Otorohanga. The fire brigade ' was quickly on the ecene, and the greater part of'the building was saved, only the back portion being destroyed.
