LAST MONTH'S RAINFALL.

A FALL OF 2.57 INCHES. The rainfall during the month of May as registered by the official observer, Mr. F. A. F. Burnett, was exceptionally light as compared with the previous months. The rainfall for the month was 2.57 inches, which was spread over 20 days. The heaviest fait recorded were on May 4 and May 21, when 0.37 in. were recorded respectively. The rainfall for the month of May in 1917 established a record for Auckland, no such fall being registered before. The fall for that period was 8.01-in., the previous greatest fall being in May, 1900, when 7.98 in. fell. The average fall for May is 4.39 in., and the lowest fall for that month was in 1881, when 0.95 in. was recorded.
