Tupe, for whom 'Mr Butler appeared, { came before the Court for killing a cow 1 on a station at Houhora. Tane and Tupe x were each sentenced to three months' i imprisonment, while Peni was admitted I .to probation for a period of two years. £ j Notu Rukutai, for whom Mr A. Moody « appeared, had forged a soldier's order, I and was admitted to probation for two t years, subject to the restitution of the « money within one month. £ I Harvey Catherine Johnson, who ap- ! peared on a charge of bigamy, received a ' ! favourable report from the probation * I officer, and was admitted to probation for j £ I twelve months, subject to the condition I l ; that she take out a prohibition order for i E herself during the period mentioned. l Daniel Christopher McDonald, who! 6 I appeared before the Court for stealing a ' j horse, saddle, and bridle, had a number E <of previous convictions against him. He stated that he had just "done time," and I J was arrested again as he was leaving the j prison gates. Prisoner expressed aI ' desire to go to the front, and eaid that; * be thought he would have a chance if ' allowed to do so.
