MOUNT ALBERT COUNCIL

The Mount Albert Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Hγ T. B. Clay) in the chair. Borough Rates.—Rates' struck for the year enaed March, 1919, were as follows-— General, 4-5 d in the £; lighting, 13-loOd: hospital and charitable aid, 19-lood- drainage, 13-50 d; sanitation fee, 7/6 per annum; water rate, 10/ per aannm upon properties •-hose annual value does not exceed £12 10/, and £o per cent per annum, with a maximum of £2 10/, where the annual value of the property exceeds £12 10/; nonconsumers' rate, one»half of the foregoing with a maximum of £1 5/; meter supply, 1/3 per thousand gallons, with maximum 10/ per half-year. Rates were apportioned on council loans as follows:—Special £8000 (1915), drainage and main road, each l-sOd; special £5250 (3.902), drainage, l-25d; special £5700 (1916), drainage, 3-sOd; water loans, 4-25(1; special £30,000 Government-loan 17-100 d. As previously stated, the rates are the same as last year, with the exception of increase in tlie sanitation fee from «/ to 7/6. . ' Kingsland Overbridge.—The district engineer of railways wrote enclosing plane of approach roads to the proposed overbridge at Kingsluod, which will provide access to various streets. The Council approved the plans, provided the Hallway Department defrayed the cost of forming the road and constructing the everbridge. Upkeep of Main Roads.—The Ohinemuri County Council's letter enclosing a resolution urging the Government to take over the Jsland aud maintain same out of consolidated revenue, was generally approved by the Council, which, however, considered the time for such a proposal was Inopportune. Insanitary.—The insanitary condition ot the rear of a block of shops in the New North Road, Kingsland, was the subject of some remark, and it was resolved to bring the matter under the notice of the Health Department.
