A GAMING HOUSE.

DETECTIVES MAKE AN ARREST ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY. A smart arrest was effected to-day by Auckland detectives, when a man named Peter Hisson was taken into custody by Detective-sergeant Hammond and Detective Cummings, on a charge of keeping a betting house at No. 66, Customs Street. The detectives entered the premises under a warrant issued by Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., and as the result of the search made ample evidence of the business carried on was secured. The detectives took charge of the telephone, and, besides receiving inquiries and bets by this channel, found various betting documents in the house. The accused was brought before Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., and pleaded guilty. He wa3 placed on remand till Wednesday for sentence.
