CONGREGATIONAL UNION.

The Ministers' Fraternal met on Tuesday afternoon at the residence of Rev. ■ Clyde L. and Mrs Carr. A welcome was - extended to the Rev. Mr Eastman, misi sionary from Rarotonga, who is visiting I the Dominion on furlough. An interesting paper by Rev. T. Southworth was followed by a discussion. Afternoon tea i was provided. In the evening the mem- ' bers of the Auckland district committee i were entertained at tea by the ladies of t Beresford Street Church." The annual i meeting followed, when a large attend--1 ance was presided over by the district ■ chairman (Rev. Clyde L. Carr). Revs. ■ Harry Johnston and Mr Eastman were welcomed. A "standing" vote oi con--1 dolence was carried in sympathy with the 1 Rev. H. Young, one of whose sons has 1 been reported "died of wounds" at the Flanders front. It was mentioned that ' the services of Rev. H. Steele Craik had I been available for the burial service and - that a brother in the same brigade had • been present. Mr. C. E. Campbell (dis- ; trict treasurer) presented a highly satis--1 factory balance-sheet. Correspondence included a letter from ■ the Rev. J. Reed Glasson, of Wellington, accepting nomination for the position of chairman of the union. Reports from suburban missions and Raglan mission were considered distinctly favourable. 1 Mr J. E. Hall made an appeal on behalf ;of the British and Foreign Sailors' ' Society. The following annual grants j were then approved: Devonport £100, Mangawai £70, suburban missions £70, 1 Raglan £50, Onehunga £30. Names of personal members of the union for thu district were read as follow: Revs. Geo. Burgess, Hy. Burgoyne, C. A. Lyon, Robt. Mitchell, G. Carr. Nomination of Auckland representatives to act on union com- ' mittee resulted in the selection of Revs. Warner, Johnston, Bridger, Carr, Hon. Geo. Fowlds, and Messrs. Mitchell,' Smeeton, and Hooten. Election of officers J resulted thus: Chairman, Rev. Clyde L. - Carr (re-elected) ; secretary, Mr R. H. Fisher (re-elected); treasurer, Mr. Wm! j Mitchell; auditor, Mr C. E. Campbell; tbe following to constitute the reference ' committee: The above officers, together with Messrs. Fowlds, Srneeton, Dykes. and Brown. The meeting concluded with _ votes of thanks to retiring officers, with j special mention of the efficient services v of Mr C. E. Campbell as treasurer. 3 — !
