CONCRETE FOR STREET WORKS.

<To the Ed'it.-.r.J Sir,—Reference has lately been made by his Worship the Mayor as to the works to be carried out in the city— concreting among them. May I be allowed to appeal to the Corporation and Harbour Board that in the case of concrete some form of colouration be done, so that the awful strain on the eyesight of people in this sunny climate may be put an end to? It is the subject of constant complaint which is not necessary, and, as we are trying to alleviate the eye strain on school children, why not be sensible and do away with the causes in the streets and wharves? As this ie a matter of great importance, I trust something will be done before a larger surface of concrete is laid down, and also that the portions now in concrete be covered in some wav. — I am, etc., T.G.
