FRANKLIN SHOW.

SUCCESSFUL OPENING. LARGE ENTRIES IN ALL CLASSES. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, this day. The* Franklin A. and P. thirty-third annual show wae opened today on the Pukekohe showground, in fine weather. There are 1750 entries in all sections—6o more than last year—and the stock entriea constitute a record. The. only section showing a decrease is that for draught horses. The horse classes in general are good, light hacks and hunters being very representative, while the draughts, though few in numbers, are of good quality. Cattle are well up to the standard in numbers and quality. The entry in Friesians is considered the best seen for some time iii the country shows of the province. Jerseys are leee numerous than last year, but those entered are exceedingly good. Ayrshires have increased, and milking Shorthorns are fairly well represented. In cheep, Romney Marsh and Border Leiceaters are good classes, and other varieties are less numerous. Some very fine Berkshire piga are shown by the Ruakura' Farm of Instruction, and the Meesra. Rogers, of Ngaruawahia, have sent in large entries. During the year the Franklin A. and P. Society has secured 120 new members, and has progressed in other directions. Donations show an increase, and the prizes have been maintained. The ground appointment have been improved, and the show ring made more commodious. The judging and other competitions will be held to-morrow, when special trains will be run from both Auckland and Mercer. Following are fcho awards: — HORSES. Mare With Foal. — Ronlston Bros. 1, L.
