Lift * Jj the earliest flowering kinds first. * 5 Chrysanthemums—pinch back so as to cause four or five shoots to break $ !£ Propagate Antirrhinums and Pelargoniums from cuttings. X -j. All flower beds should bo mulched during dry weathar. Jj * THE VEGETABLE GARDEN. % * Keep ud sowings of Peas and French Beam. -fc * Watering of Beans has become almost essential. * j£ Shallots should be harvested at any time now. * T Onions should have the tops bent over; it helps the bulba to ripen more j X quickly. * -j. Keep the pods closely picked off Beana, so as to help the plants to tide * sjc over the dry weather. t * As soon as rain comes sow Spinach Lettuce, Radish, Swedes, and Turnip*. 5 * A sowing of Cabbage and Cauliflower seed should be made as soon as the * ■ weather is moist. Watch for tho cabbage fly. $ I Spray with arsenate of lead for codlin moth; it is not safe to give over + X yet awhile. jje S Spray Tomatoes for caterpillar and leaf spot, etc. Lime sulphur and I -•; arsenate of lead is the spray. * ••j Leeks sown early will now be strong enough for transplanting. $ sis Leeks should be planted in trenches and treated the same as Celery. 5 H: Dig and burn all weeds and. rubbish. £ * -, ORCHARD. * * * J Spray with arsenate of lead or hellebore for leech on Plums.
