RATIONING BRITAIN
STARTING -WITH PUBLIC MEALS
NATIONAL CARD SYSTEM. LONDON, January 11. A now order governing public meals will shortly prohibit the consumption of meat, poultry, and game at breakfast in hotels, restaurants, and clubs, and will totally abolish the sale of glasses of milk. N'ou-resident customers must provide their own sugar. Meals will be strictly rationed in accordance with the voluntary scale. Cattle are to be requisitioned, different areas supplying a fixed numoer each week. The Minister in Charge of Food Control (Lord Rhondda) is completing a national card system for placing on a ration basis first butter and margarine, and later tea, milk, and probably meat.— (United Service.)
