THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.
INCREASED CHEESE SHIPMENT. A comparative table of shipments of butter and cheese from Auckland during the dairying seasons 1916-17 and 1915-16, from July 1 to June 30, shows that during last season there was a substantial ■decronse in the shipments of butter, but a marked increase in the~ shipments of cheese. The value of the season's exports of Lbutter is estimated at £1,408,5C4, and that of the previous season at £1,902,828, showing a decrease of £404,204. The approximate value of the 1916-17 cheese was £500,106, and of the previous season's £372,426. The following analysis shows the shipments of the dairy produce during the /past two seasons, the figures for 1915-10 being given in parentheses: — Butter (boxes). Cheese (crates).
