MILITARY HONOURS.

iTAJOR-GEXL. SIR JOHN MONASH. Major-General Monash has had conferred upon him the title K.C.B. Sir iohn Monash, X.C.8., is the highestranked Jewish officer in the British Army. He left Australia in 1014, and is now in command of the Third Australian Division. At the beginning of the war Sir John was appointed chief censor for Australia. ,and neld that position till he became a brigade commander in the A.I.F. He served through the whole of the campaign in Gallipoli, was twice mentioned in Qispatches, was created a C.B. in 1915, and Monash Valley at Anzac, the site of Pope's Hill and Quinn's Post, was named after him. Since the evacuation of Gallipoli he has served in the Suez and in France, and has gained high distinction in action at Messines. Major-General oMnash has earned the confidence and esteem of all who know him.

SERGT.-MAJOR E. -T. F. KENNEDY, - D.C.M. Advice has been received from the Minister of Defence by Mr. J. Kennedy, of Brighton Road, that hisson.SergeantMajor Edward J. F. Kennedy, has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, for "gallantry on the field." Sergeant-Major Kennedy left New Zealand with the Main Body as a private, and was at the landing at Gallipoli. After serving some time on Gallipoli, he was sent back to Egypt. He was in the latter place a short while, when he left by one of the early troopships for France, where he now 13. Prior to leaving New Zealand he was on the clerical staff of Messrs. J. Burns and Co. of this city. His cousin, .Sergeant D. Kennedy, who also left with the Main Body, won the Military Medal at Meesines.

PRIVATE W. D. GLASCOCK. Information has been received that Private W. D. Glascock, of Otorohanga, has been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the field. Private Glascock came to New Zealand from Buckhurst Hill, Essex, about four years ago, and until his enlistment in the Twelfth Reinforcements was working as a farm labourer in various parts of the OtoroHanga district. He is 21 years of age, and has three brothers serving with the Imperial forces.
