TRADE WITH CHINA.

AN ARDENT ADVOCATE. SYDNEY, December 12. Speaking at a civic welcome, Dr. Morrison (Foreign Adviser to the Chinese Government) strongly urged the development of Australia's trade with China. Failing the appointment of a resident agent, he suggested Australia sending a general commission of inquiry. Recent happenings had declared the atmosphere in regard to China's treaty obligations, and any attempt in the direction suggested would have a warm ■welcome from the Chinese authorities.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
