PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) LONDON. June 3. The following members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force have obtained commissions in the Imperial Armyt-Corpl. N. S. Hyslop (11/284). Wellington Mounted Rifles, in the Royal Flying Corps; Gorpl. J. F. Cockroft (24/2171) NX Rifle Brigade; Lce.-Corpl. •L. G. Wylde (6/748) Otago Infantry •Regiment. Mrs. N. Alfred Nathan, of Wickford, Auckland, who came to England twelve months ago, via Canada, has presented a cinema to the N.Z. Hospital at Walton-on-Thames. Her daughter, Mrs. D. F. Kettle, who came to this country at the same time, has since married Major W. Reginald Trick. The death is announced of Lieutenant Henry Ernest Metcalfe, N.Z.E.F., eldest son of Henry H. Metcalfe, of Auckland, and grandson of the late Henry Geldart Metcalfe, of King-wood. Hants, who was killed in action on April 12. The following New Zcalandcrs were elected Fellows at a meeting of the Royal Colonial Institute, held an April 23: —Captain Krnest M. Finlayson (Wellington), and Messrs. Wm. K. Fyffe. M.D., (Wellington), and William T." Williams (llawkc's Bay). Sergeant 1!. G. Martin, of Auckland, who was wounded at Gallipoli. and has since served in Kgypt and on the Somme, is in London on ten days' leave from France. I The death occurred suddenly on April 15, at Burnham. Somerset, in his 81st year, of Captain Christopher Garaia, of Christchureh, late 79th Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, and Bengal Staff Corps.
