CRISIS IN ITALY.
AVERTED BY SONNDfO. leeeived 0.5 a.m.) LONDON. July 2. The ''Daily Chronicle's" Rome correspondent says that supporters of Signor Oiolitti in the Chamber of Deputies, on the ground of the Government's alleged shortcomings, especially in the sphere of economies, endeavoured to secure reconstruction of the Ministry under Signor Orlando, the present Minister for the Interior. Baron Sonnino's firm threat that in such event lie would resign the portfolio of Foreign Affairs, brought them to their sensed, and a vote of confidence in the Boselli coalition was carried by 301 to 63. All groups except the Socialist Neutralists and Republicans realise that Baron Sonnino's disappearance at this juncture would preripitatc a national disaster and therefore shrank with dramatic suddenness from the verge of an unsounded abys*.— (A. and N.Z.) NO INNER CABINET. (Received 12.15 p.m.) ROME, July 2. Signor Boselli's success was partly due to his tenacious resistance to the clamour for the appointment of a special committee inside the Cabinet. He argued that similar experiments by France and England did not justify Italy's imitation.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) A TIGHTER BLOCKADE. AMERICAN ATTITUDE WASHINGTON, July 2. ! An official statement based on figure* compiled in England shows that Germanyhas obtained from neutrals sufficient food to ration the entire German armies on the east front, und also sufficient fats to supply 7,.->OO.OOO soldiers. Exports from the United States to neutrals make this possible. ElTorts by neutrals to lighten the expected drastic embargo are. it is believed, causing delay in the actual application of the embargo.— (A. and N.Z. Cable!
