1 - m MINERS AND SERVICE. POSITION OF STRIKERS. WELLINGTON, Thursday. Representatives ot' the t oal Miners Federation interviewed Sir .lames Allen. Acting Prime .Minister, to-day. One request was for renewal of the exemption from military service withdrawn in the cases of certain miners who went on strike. Sir .Tames Allen told the delegates as the industry was essential, all who lia.l come tip for medical examination would be allotted as so!diers.t,o, the co.aj mjning industry, on the understanding that't'nov must remain iv the industry. The delegates also mentioned a grievance about the difficulty of settling local disputes. There was too much delay at present. They brought an Australian miner, who told tile Minister of the methods adopted in Australia, where a Board, consisting of a judge and two assessors henrd and determined disputes. >i r James Allen promised to submit , the request to the Minister of Labour land Minister of Mines.
