HOTEL HOURS.
EARLY CLOSING AGITATION. (By Telegraph. Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. A public meeting was held to-night in connection with the movement to reduce the hours of the sale of liquor. There was a fair attendance. The speakers were: Mr. Holland (Mayor), Dean Carrington. and Messrs. J. T. Martin, F. Wilding, K.C., G. T. Booth. A. 8. Taylor, and A. W. Heaven. Resolutions on the lines of those passed at Dunedin. urging the six o'clock closing of hotel liars and restrictions upon the importation, sale, and manufacture of intoxicating liquor were carried. Another resolution was carried cordially supporting the National Efficiency Hoar.l in the important work it had undertaken, and urging the Government to consider and art promptly on its recommendations. WELLINGTON UES< HdTIONS. (By Telegraph.- Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Thursday. A large public meeting was held in the Town Hull to-night, the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) presiding. Resolutions were carried by large majorities urging the Government, in the interest of national efficiency and economy, to restrict the bourn for the sale of liquor to from S a.m. to 0 p.m.
