BRITISH-GROWN COTTON.

POSSIBILITIES IN EMPIRE. TRADE WANTS SOMETHING DONE. (A. and N.Z. and Reuter.) (Received 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, February 11. A deputation from the cotton trade waited on Mr. G. H. Roberts, UnderSecretary to the Board of Trade, to urge the development of cotton-growing in suitable parte of the Empire, and the appointment of a Departmental Committee to consider the matter. Mr. Tom Garnat emphasised the cotton-growing possibilities of Queensland and South Africa. Mr. Roberts said that the time was opportune for a careful survey of the question, and an opportunity of discussjing it would possibly be afforded at the coming Imperial Conference.
