Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M.). SB v Bt JSENNBSS. Three first offenders forfeited bail; and another, who had had to be sent to the Hospital for treatment, was ordered to pay 51/- hospital expenses, in default seven days' imprisonment. FRUIT MARKET INCIDENT. Gustave Ferdinand Borgolte (43) admitted that yesterday he stole a case of peaches, value 3/-, the property of Turner and Sons. Senior-sergeant Rutledge stated that he noticed Borgolte helping a man to shift fruit the latter had bought, and observed that after giving assistance Borgolte put a case of peaches aside, then shouldered it, and started to walk away. The constable stopped him, and discovered that Borgolte had not bought any fruit, and had no authority to take the peaches. Borgolte stated that he had for many years been engaged on commission in the fruit business, and understood from remarks that passed between him and the man he was helping that he could have a case of peaches. It was his intention to pay for the peaches the next market day. In view of accused's statement and a remote possibility of misunderstanding, his Worship remanded accused till Tuesday, in c.der to have evidence from a witness who was present, and knew accused. DIVORCED FROM THE CITY. Katie McCarthy (33) and Gertrude Agnes Cadigan (36), convicted under the war regulations of respectively keeping and assisting in the management of a house of ill-fame in Union Street, were convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called on, with conditions that each should take out a prohibition order and should leave the city within three days. May Williams (44), for importuning in tne street, was convicted, prohibited, and ordered to come up for sentence hen called on, a condition being that she should leave the city to-day, and keep out for twelve months.
