PROGRESS ABOVE AND BELOW KUT-EL-AMARA, CLEARING THE RIGHT BANK OF THE TIGRIS. LONDON, January 22. An official report from Mesopotamia states that the enemy has now been driven from a small strip on the right bank of the Tigris at the bend of the river north-east of Kut-el-Amara. The whole trench system on a front of 2,500 yds and to a depth of I,looyds is now in the hands of the British. The right bank of the Tigris from Kut-el-Amara downwards is now clear of the enemy. Further progress has been made against the enemy trenches on the right bank of the river south-west of Kut-el-Amara."
