BOY BADLY BURNED.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Saturday. Willie Nicholson, aged about 14 rears, son of Mr. W. B. Nicholson, of Maungatapere, was severely burnt yesterday under peculiar circumstances. A general clean-up was in progress at the homestead, and young Nicholson set fire to a big pile of rubbish which had accumulated. Concealed among the rubbish must have been some combustibles, as the whole flaming mass suddenly blew up and enveloped the boy, whose clothes caught alight. He was severely burned before the clothing could be dragged'of him. He was brought into the Whangarei Hospital by the ambulance, and ie now reported to be progressing favourably.
