CUT OFF FROM THE CHURCH. A PLEASING ATHENIAN CEREMONY. (t'nited Service.) (Received 9.5 am.) LONDON, January 7. Mr. Jeffries, the correspondent, writing from Athens, states that Venizelos on Christmas Day was publicly excommunicated hy the authorities of the Greek Church. The Government opposed the project, but the reservists forced the Metropolitan of Athens to perform the ceremony- A gory bull's head was placed in a square made of stones. The Metropolitan. with averted head, pronounced the anathema, J and the reservists then marched past shouting "Anathema." Fifty thousand men. women, and children cast etones at the head, and cursed Venizelos as a traitor.
