LAND FOR SOLDIERS.
AREAS OPENED THIS MONTH. 4.000 ACRES IN AUCKLAND . DISTRICT. On Monday. October 23. a total of 4,021 acres of rural lands in the Auckland land district will be thrown open at the Auckland Lands Office for selection by discharged soldiers. Most cf the areas- offered are of first-class lam l , only two of the seventeen sections being of seeond-rato quality, ten of the sections being situated in the North Auckland Peninsula, and the remaining seven being scattered over the southern part of the district. There are nine lote of first-clafis land near Kaihu, ranging in area from 113 acres to 324 ceres, and section of-J73 acres at Maungakaramea, in the Whangarei County. Of the other first-claes selections one of 10 acres i> situated on the Hauraki Plains, about 20 miles from Morrinsville, one of 331 acres, V2i miles from Te Kauwhata rail-i way station, one of 11S2 acres in thel Wharepapa Survey District, 27 miles by road from Te Awamutu, and two ee;tions, one of 54 acres and the f other of 55 acres/ in the Clifford Settlement., Matamata. Of the second-class areas; one of 355 acres is in the Waitomo County, a mile and a-quarter from the Kopaki railway station, and one of 101 acres is in the Piako district, 14 miles from JVaitakaruru. The land in each instance may be purchased for cash or deferred payment, or selected on lea£e -with rig-lit of renewal and right to acquire the freehold. Ap •plicants must' appear personally before Board at'Auckland'for examination on Thursday, October 36, at 10 a.m., but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board, of any other district. Application forme can be obtained at the Auckland <lands Office and at the principal .poet "offices in the locality of the lands to be 'opened.
