OBITUARY.

MR. JOSIAH MARTIN. A most highly respected old resident of Auckland, .Mr. Josiah Martin, died at his residence, Princes Street, Northeote. i aged 73 years, and the interment, which took place to-day, was private. Deceased was for very many years a prominent member of the Auckland Institute until failing health necessitated his retirement froni active work. For- a long time Mr. Martin conducted.a photographic business in Auckland, bat prior to the introduction of the public school system and free secondary education he had a private college in the Choral Hall. In his younger days Mr. Martin -was popular as a lantern lecturer, especially in the Rotorua district. Deceased is survived by three daughters, the eldest beinji the wife of the Rev. C. Lyons. MrsMartin predeceased her husband about three years ago.
