AQUATICS.

SWIMBUNCk. From time to time many long-distance Bwims have been undertaken by ladies, but that accomplished by Mtes Eileen Lee, of London the daughter of the Teddington lock-keeper, recently, places her in the foremost rank, the young lady eclipsing all records made by men as to time. Mies Lee entered the water 200 yards below Greenwich Hospital at 12 minutes to 12. She swam to Lsleworth, and. turning with the tide, swam back to Barnes, a total distance of 23i miles, in 7h lm. She was quite fresh when she was advised by her coach, Walter Brick- i ett. to leave the water, and was quiteconfident of being able to continue her swim another 10 miles.

Swimming with a perfect over-arm stroke at 30 to the minute, she reached London Bridge (five miles) in 1J hours, and after two hours' swimming passed Vauxhall (eight miles). Although receiving little help from the stream Miss Leo was abreast of Putney Pier (124 miles) in 3h llm. Hammersmith Bridge was passed in 4h 21m, at which stage the swimmer stated she felt a trifle cold Kew Bridge (18 miles 3 furlongs) was reached in oh sm. The tide had now practically stopped, but with perseverance she continued to Church End, Islcworth (195 miles), her time being 5h 47m. Returning with the tide, she swam back to the Bull's Head, below Barnes Bridge, where she entered the boat, having covered miles in 7h lm, a wonderful performance.
