Footpaths in the main 6treets vrere not nearly wide enough to accommodate the pedestrian traffic on busy days and at nights. On euch occasions the bulk of the people walked in the carriage way. They also suggested that the destination sigra of tramcars shonld be placed on the sides of the cars, and thns avoid the necessity of people stepping into the roadway to Tead the sign, in which act they were liable to be knocked down.
