DEVONPORT'S PERSONAL CANVASS.
FIGURES NOW COMPLETE. The personal canvass of all male residents in tho borough has now been prac-
tically completed by the Dcvonport Borough Council, and Mr. Frank R. Bailey, lion, organiser, supplied the following list: — Married men in borough, "48; married and single, not stated, 282; Single men, 401 ; divorced, 4; over age. 3(1; deceased, 3; in gaol, 1. Of these 1,159 are on the national register, and 281 are not. Tlic cost of the canvass to the borough was about £80. The greater part of the work was carried out by returned troopers. The authorities are giving the eligible men of the borough a final opportunity to register themselves at the. Council Chambers. For the purpose of the canvass, the borough was divided into ten sub-areas, and for each a leader and three assistants were chosen. It is estimated that in all, 3,000 visits have been made by the workers.
