PARKS FOR NORTH SHORE.
DEVONPORT AND TAKAPUNA PROPOSALS. Two suggestions for reclaiming portions of Shoal Bay for the purpose of creating public parks were received at this afternoon's meeting of tho Auckland Harbour Board. The Devonport Borough Council forwarded a resolution passed by that authority, endorsing the plans "of the Stanley Bay Ratepayers' Association for the reclamation of nearly eight acres opposrite the Stanley Bay jetty, and enclosing a plan of a proposed wall to enclose the park. Tho Council asked Hint the material for tho construction of the wall might be taken from the Harbour Board's property, so as to enable the area to he reclaimed to its fullest extent
The Takapuna Council wrote asking the Hoard's assistance in a scheme to create a pafk by the relinquishment of the Board's rights in regard to the portion of Shoal Bay betwe.vi Barry's Point and Napier's Point, shown on an enclosed skr-tch. The proposal would be, explained the letter, to ploo? floodgates' at the neck of the bay in order that it might be reclaimed. If the Poar.l would agree to the transfer of the _nd lat. negotiations could he entered into by the Borough Council with the owners of properly for the "xtingubJiimj of riparian rights.
