Pearcc r denied that the Commonwealth promised to supply 300,000 troops by the end of June. He stated that the assertion was only made by the Press and was never officially countenanced.' He added that up to date there had always been sufficient reinforcements .available. Referring to the request of Australians in England 'for permission to join the Austrab'an Expeditionary Forces there, he said that Cabinet had decided not,to accede to the request. ' .-> "
