ELLERSLIE TOWN BOARD.
The usnal meeting of the Ellerslie Town Board -was held last night. Present: Mr \:. H. Gavin (chairman), and Messrs S. £on:erfield, G. Thorpe, J. A. Godfrey, and 1". E. Bust. Valuation BolL—A copy of the roll containing the new valuations was received, end it wes decided to thoronghly check the roll at the next meeting of the Works Committee. Health Officer.—Dr. Hughes wrote advising the Board that be had given seven days' notice to several shopkeepers in Ellerslie to carry out the recommendations made by his Inspector. It'was resolved that a letter of thanks be sent to Dr. Hughes for his prompt attention Iα the matter. Municipal Conference. —It was resolved to send up the following remits to the Municipal Association of New Zealand: (1) That the closing hours for polling booths in town board districts be extended to seven o'clock. (2) That local bodies be empowered to administer the Noxions Weeds Act. (3) That the elections for members of town boards be held In April Instead of September as at present Width of Tyres. — The Newmarket Borongh Council forwarded a draft copy of a new by-law which is to be placed before a meeting at local bodies next Thursday, and the rtm irm»Ti will attend the meeting If possible. Stray Horses.—lt was decided to notify the ranger that the streets, especially Arthur Street, were constantly being used tor grazing horses.
